The History of Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea is a much-loved British tradition that dates back to the early 19th century. It is said to have been introduced by Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, who would enjoy a light meal of tea, bread, and cakes in the afternoon to bridge the long gap between lunch and dinner.
What began as a private ritual soon became a social occasion bringing people together over tea, conversation, and delicious treats. Today, Afternoon Tea in Attleborough continues that tradition, offering a perfect way to celebrate life’s little (and big) moments.

Didn't use a room as attended a function however they were very attentive, a few of us left late as chatting (family funeral) and they were so kind and patient. Food was lovely, staff friendly, shame about the reason be nice to visit again on nicer terms.Posted on Google![]()

Thank you Tracey. From start to finish Tracey was very helpful and advised us at a very difficult time in our lives. My Dad's funeral tea was exceptional, the staff were friendly and helpful. Helping the guests throughout the afternoon they even supplied containers for us to take home food that we couldn't quite manage. I would highly recommend Sherbourne House and would like to thank Tracey and her team for an excellent service.Posted on Google![]()
